“Those who feel tired and worn out will find new life and energy.”

More than a week
of being busy.

Solemn Assembly is a sacred opportunity for our entire church family to sacrifice in order to seek God together with one heart and one purpose.

Every part of this journey - the daily fast, live stream, prayer calls and Prayer Shut-In - has been intentionally designed to lead us into deeper intimacy with God, spiritual renewal, stronger faith and fresh direction.

Your presence matters. Let’s commit to this journey together and expect God to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think.

Set the week apart.

Renewed Intimacy with God

James 4:8 (NKJ)

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Our relationship with God was never intended to become routine. It is possible to faithfully attend church, serve in ministry, read our Bibles, pray regularly and still discover that our walk with God has become mechanical rather than relational. God has never desired empty religious activity; He desires hearts that genuinely love Him and long for His presence.

James reminds us that renewal begins with one intentional decision: draw near to God. This invitation is not directed only to those who have completely turned away from the Lord. It is also for believers whose hearts have become distracted, whose fire has begun to dim or whose lives have become overwhelmed by the demands of our everyday lives.

Throughout the Bible, whenever God’s people drifted spiritually, His call was not simply to work harder or become busier with religious activities. His invitation was always to return to Him. Before God desires our service and gifts, He desires our fellowship. Before He entrusts us with greater responsibility, He wants deeper communion. Ministry flows best from intimacy, not activity.

James also calls us to “cleanse your hands” and “purify your hearts.” The hands represent our outward actions, while the heart represents our inward motives and affections. God is interested in both. Renewal happens as we allow the Holy Spirit to align not only what we do but also why we do it.

The phrase “you double-minded” speaks of a divided heart, wanting God while allowing other things to compete for His rightful place. Intimacy grows when our hearts become entirely devoted to Christ. God is not seeking perfection, but wholehearted pursuit.

Intimacy with God is cultivated through consistent prayer, worship, repentance, meditation on God’s Word, obedience and enjoying His presence. These spiritual disciplines are not duties we perform to earn God’s love; they are pathways that deepen our relationship with the One who already loves us.

During Solemn Assembly, we are not merely abstaining from food, we’re making room for God. We are intentionally removing distractions so we can hear His voice more clearly, love Him more deeply and experience His presence more fully. The goal is not to become more religious. The goal is to know Jesus more intimately and to become more like Him.

Renewal PointGod is far more interested in your relationship with Him than your religious routine.
DAY 02 · Wednesday · September 9

Renewed in the Holy Spirit

Ephesians 5:18 (NKJ)

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.

The filling of the Holy Spirit is not a one-time event but an ongoing lifestyle. Just as a lamp continually needs oil and vehicles continually need fuel, believers continually need the fresh work of the Holy Spirit.

Life has a way of draining us. Responsibilities, disappointments, ministry, work, family and spiritual warfare can leave us spiritually exhausted. God never intended us to live by our own strength.

The Holy Spirit renews our joy, empowers our witness, convicts our hearts, comforts our pain and strengthens our faith.

Today ask God for a fresh filling, not because He has left you, but because He desires to continually overflow your life.

1. A Call To Be Filled (Ephesians 5:18)

God is not only concerned about our behavior (“do not be drunk with wine…”) but also our condition (“be filled with the Spirit”). As believers our life is not about self-control alone, it’s about Spirit-control.

  • Wine can produce temporary pleasure but leads to dissipation.
  • The Holy Spirit produces lasting joy, direction and power.

2. Why We Need To Be Renewed

  • We get spiritually dry | Over time we can drift into routines and lose our first love. (Revelation 2:4)
  • We face daily battles | The devil works hard to drain, distract and discourage us. (I Peter 5:8)
  • We are vessels, not reservoirs | God designed us to be filled and refilled, not filled once and used up. (John 7:38)
  • We carry God’s presence to the world | A filled believer impacts lives, a dry believer struggles to connect. (Acts 4:31)

3. Benefits of Being Filled With The Holy Spirit

  • Renewed Joy | His presence brings joy that circumstances cannot shake. (Nehemiah 8:10)
  • Empowered Witness | Boldness and wisdom to share the Gospel. (Acts 1:8)
  • Convicted Heart | The Spirit reveals what needs to change. (John 16:8)
  • Comfort in Pain | He is our Comforter in every season. (John 14:16-17)
  • Strength for the Journey | He gives endurance when we feel weak. (Isaiah 40:31)
  • Guidance and Direction | He leads us in truth. (John 16:13)
  • Fruit that Glorifies God | Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control flow from a spirit filled life. (Galatians 5:22-23)

4. How To Be Continually Filled

  • Stay in the Word | It feeds your spirit and keeps you sensitive to the Spirit. (Psalm 119:105)
  • Maintain a Prayer Life | Speak to God and make space for Him to speak to you. (I Samuel 3:9-10)
  • Worship in Spirit and Truth | Worship opens the door for His presence. (John 4:23-24)
  • Walk in Obedience | Unconfessed sin quenches the Spirit. (I Thessalonians 5:19)
  • Keep Good Company | Surround yourself with Spirit-filled people. (Proverbs 27:17)
  • Surrender Daily | Surrender makes more room for the Spirit to work. (Luke 9:23)
Renewal PointDependence on the Holy Spirit is a daily necessity, not an occasional experience.
DAY 03 · Thursday · September 10

Renewed as a Witness

Acts 1:8 (NKJ)

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Jesus never intended for the Church to simply gather; He intended for the Church to go. Before ascending to heaven, His final instructions were not about building bigger crowds but about making faithful witnesses. The Church doesn’t only exist to worship God together but also to introduce others to Jesus Christ.

Jesus promised that His followers would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them. The Greek word for power is dunamis, meaning divine ability or supernatural strength. This power was not given merely so believers could experience God’s presence, but so they could boldly proclaim Christ and faithfully represent Him wherever they went.

The Holy Spirit does not simply make us better Christians; He makes us effective witnesses.

Sometimes we become comfortable in our relationship with God and forget there are people all around us searching for hope, peace, forgiveness and purpose. Renewal reminds us that every believer has a story of someone God used in their life.

Now God desires to use us in the life of someone else.

Jesus said the disciples would begin in Jerusalem, then go to Judea, Samaria and ultimately to the ends of the earth. This reminds us that our witness begins right where God has planted us, in our homes, workplaces, schools and neighborhoods. Before God sends us across the world, He calls us to be faithful across the street.

Being a witness is about far more than what we say. Our lives should consistently reflect the character of Jesus.

People are often drawn to Christ long before they attend a church service. They are watching the lives of those who claim to follow Him. Our lives are a living testimony that points others toward Jesus.

During this Renewal Week, ask God to renew your burden for those who need Jesus. Pray for open doors to share your testimony, invite someone to our Sunday Encounter, encourage a hurting person, or simply demonstrate the love of Christ through Random Acts of kindness - “Loving God = Loving People.” You may never know how one conversation, one invitation or one act of obedience can change someone’s eternity. The same Holy Spirit who fills us also sends us.

Someone God used

  • Someone prayed for us.
  • Someone invited us.
  • Someone shared the Gospel.
  • Someone showed us grace.
  • Someone refused to stop believing that God could save us.

Our Witness is seen in

  • How we love those who are difficult to love.
  • How we forgive those who have wronged us.
  • How we serve without seeking recognition.
  • How we live with integrity when no one is watching.
  • How we respond during trials and disappointments.
  • How we speak with grace, truth, encouragement, and compassion.
Renewal PointA renewed believer doesn’t just enjoy God’s presence; they help others encounter it.
DAY 04 · Friday · September 11

Renewed in Worship

John 4:23-24 (NKJ)

23) But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24) God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

True worship is not produced by music or a playlist; it’s produced by revelation. Music can create an atmosphere, but only a genuine encounter with God produces true worship. Worship begins when we see God for who He truly is and respond to Him with our hearts.

In John 4, Jesus spoke these words to the Samaritan woman who was focused on where worship should take place. Jesus shifted her attention from a location to a relationship. Worship is not confined to a building, a mountain or a moment during a Sunday Encounter. It is the continual response of a heart that has encountered the living God.

To worship “in spirit” means our worship is sincere, Spirit-empowered and flows from the depths of our inner being. To worship “in truth” means our worship is grounded in the truth of God’s Word and centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ. True worship engages both the heart and the mind.

When we remember who God is and what Christ has accomplished through His death, burial and resurrection, worship becomes our natural response. We worship because He is Holy, faithful, worthy and because He first loved us.

Sometimes the pressures of life cause our praise to become quiet and our worship to become routine. Disappointments, unanswered prayers, fatigue, grief and distractions can slowly silence our hearts. Yet God’s worthiness has never depended upon our circumstances. He deserves our worship whether life is joyful or painful, whether our prayers have been answered or we are still waiting in faith.

Renewal in worship happens when we stop allowing our circumstances to define our praise and begin allowing God’s character to shape it instead. Circumstances change, but God’s nature never changes.

The cross has not changed. The resurrection has not changed. God has not changed. His mercy is still new every morning. His grace is still sufficient. His promises are still true. His presence is still available to those who seek Him.

During this Renewal Week, let worship become more than songs we sing. Let it become the posture of our hearts. Worship Him with your words, your obedience, your gratitude, your service and your daily surrender. May our worship never depend on how we feel but always be rooted in who God is.

Renewal PointTrue worship is the response of a heart that has been captivated by the greatness and goodness of God.
DAY 05 · Saturday · September 12

Renewed in God’s Word

Psalm 119:105 (NKJ)

Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

God’s Word does more than inform us, it transforms us. The world constantly attempts to shape our thinking through media, culture, opinions, experiences and personal feelings. Every day we are being discipled by something. God’s Word renews our minds by reminding us of what is true, regardless of what the culture says.

The Word of God is God’s divine revelation. It reveals His character, His will, His promises and His ways. It exposes deception, corrects error, strengthens weak faith and equips believers to live lives that honor Christ. When God’s Word fills our hearts, it begins to reshape our desires, our decisions, our conversations and ultimately our lives.

The believer who consistently feeds on Scripture develops spiritual stability in an unstable world. God’s Word produces wisdom when life becomes confusing, discernment when deception is widespread, courage when fear arises, hope when circumstances are discouraging and confidence because our faith is anchored in God’s unchanging truth rather than changing emotions.

Renewal begins when we stop allowing culture to disciple us more than Scripture. If we spend more time listening to the voices and influencers of this world than the voice of God, our thinking will eventually reflect the world rather than Christ. But when God’s Word becomes our daily foundation, it renews our perspective and aligns our hearts with God’s purposes.

The Bible is not merely information to be studied; it is God’s living voice to be obeyed. Every passage invites us not simply to gain knowledge, but to experience transformation through obedience. Knowledge without obedience produces pride, but truth practiced produces spiritual maturity.

As we consistently read, meditate upon and apply God’s Word, the Holy Spirit uses it to sanctify us, strengthen our faith and prepare us for every season of life. The more we treasure Scripture, the more we begin to think like Christ, speak like Christ and live for Christ.

Renewal PointToday I will allow God’s Word to shape my thoughts, govern my decisions and direct my steps before the voices of the culture have the opportunity to shape them.
I believe this Bible is God’s revelation to man given by the Holy Spirit. The Word of God is infallible and God-breathed. Today I will open my heart and ears to receive this Word, which will change my life forever.

By faith I will take hold of the Word of God until I am Empowered, Equipped & Encouraged!
